First publicly announced on July 2nd, 2013 as the successor to the EOS 60D, the Canon 70D was developed for users looking to step up from entry-level models and advanced amateurs seeking to grow.

The Canon 70D price point and its features were accessible to a wider audience and was at the forefront of broadening Canon’s DSLR customer. Responding to a diverse range of customer needs, it most notably featured the new Dual Pixel CMOS AF technology that significantly improved movie and stills quality.

Introduction of the EOS 80D

On February 18th 2016 the Canon EOS 80D was announced to replace the Canon 70D. Still with Dual Pixel CMOS AF, it also has 24.2 megapixels, plus a faster processor and an upgraded 45-cross point autofocus for faster, sharper results.
